Koblenz - A Town well known in Europe
Just ask any anyone in France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy or Luxembourg whether they have heard of Koblenz and you’ll get the answer “yes”, “oui”, “Si”, “ja”. Yes, the city of Koblenz is known throughout Europe. Two thousand years of history have been greatly influenced by the Romans, Franks, French and finally the Prussians. Today Koblenz is a city with flair and is well equipped with the necessary skills and institutions to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
At the very pulse of European history
In Europe, Koblenz is partly known for its common history; beginning with the Romans, continuing with the Franks, then the French and finally the Prussians. But also thanks to the enormous numbers of tourist attracted to the town nestled at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers which was touristically ‘discovered’ by the British over 200 years ago and today still attracts, year after year, thousands of holidaymakers and day-trippers.
A hub for trade and communication channels
The historical trade routes from the west to east (Paris – Königsberg) and from north to south, Koblenz has always been used as a major trading hub. Even in today’s Europe of the Single Market, Koblenz, which lies only 30 kilometres from the geographical centre of the EU, still serves as a nerve centre for trade, transport and communications.
Koblenz has been especially distinguished by being awarded with the European Medal and enjoys close interactive connections to several partner cities. The city can boast of a well-developed infrastructure which is traditionally integrated into the pan-European infrastructure.
In the central Rhine region, greater Koblenz includes the areas of ten larger districts with more than 1.5 million inhabitants living within an area of 8,100 square kilometres (approximately 5,000 square miles).

Companies that have settled in here truly appreciate and benefit from this locational and vocational competitive edge that Koblenz offers. This also endows Koblenz a first-rate location for the forthcoming enlargement of Europe.
