Koblenz has long had a strong relationship with the soldiers stationed there and their dependents; and honours its claim as a traditional garrison town. Of central importance are the Federal Agency for Defence Technology and Procurement, the Centre for Civic Leadership, and the Armed Forces Command. Furthermore, there are the Federal Agency for Information Management and Technology, and the Central Medical Command. The Armed Forces are and remain, with their 9,500 service men and women, a central economic factor in Koblenz.

 

Federal Agency for Defence Technology and Procurement (BWB), a centralised procurement agency for the German Armed Forces. The BWB, headquartered in Koblenz, can look back on 50 years of successful achievement. The agency focuses on the management of projects and the creation of new procedural systems for the development and procurement of military technology and materials.  

IT-Amt Bw

The IT-AmtBw, newly established in Koblenz, provides the entire German Armed Forces with information technology and is an official IT service provider. For Koblenz, this means a further step forward in the direction of becoming a leading centre of information technology. 

 

As a service provider and troop deployment agency, the command authority co-ordinates medical services for the soldiers serving in the Armed Forces.
