Ideal location for educational facilities and institutions of higher learning  
Koblenz, with its extraordinary number of elementary and secondary education systems, and its institutions of higher learning, is well-prepared for the challenges of the 21st century. The close collaboration between locally based companies and the universities, particularly in the area of information technology, especially attracts many companies to settle in or near this preferred area of highly esteemed educational facilities.  
 
The University of Koblenz
Master’s studies in the natural sciences, as they are offered at the University of Koblenz, take a particular place in the outstanding German reputation of institutions of higher learning. This attractive offer of studies and further education is appealing to many young people wishing to study in Koblenz. Within ten years, the number of students studying at the University of Koblenz has doubled to a current 5,500 (Koblenz Campus). This makes Koblenz the third largest university in Rhineland-Palatinate.
 
Especially the departments of computer sciences are benefiting and receiving support from partnerships and strategic alliances with the private sectors. Alone in the last few years, co-operative agreements with 27 institutions of higher learning based in 15 countries have been established. Furthermore, the university is involved in a European-wide student exchange scheme.
 
The Koblenz University of Applied Sciences (FH=Fachhochschule /Polytech)
The University of Applied Sciences, Koblenz, is a relatively young institution of higher learning with international leanings and numerous collaboration agreements with partner universities throughout Europe and in the USA. A major directional development for the FH has been two newly built campus buildings in Koblenz and Remagen just north of Koblenz: those wishing to study there can choose from among many innovative courses of studies, for instance, applied mathematics, architecture, mechanical engineering, computer sciences, IT, health and social services, medical technology and general engineering, logistics; and even distance learning in economic engineering, not to mention business administration.  
 
The new facilities in the Konrad-Zuse-Straße (in the Koblenz part of town, Karthause) provides the departments of electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering an excellent infrastructure. Currently, 4,800 young women and men at pursuing their studies at the three campuses of the University of Applied Sciences. In order to grow with the increasing demand, the FH is currently planning additional enlargement of its campuses.
 
Further institutions of higher learning Just at the door step of Koblenz, in the neighbouring town of Vallendar, one finds the internationally renown University of Corporate Management Science (WHU – Otto Beisheim Graduate School of Management), a private state accredited School of Business Management of top university ranking. Vallendar is also home to the Philosophical, Theological Seminary of the Pallottiner, where students can obtain their undergraduate degree on up to accredited postdoctoral qualifications in various academic degrees in theology and philosophy.
 
Learning for the future
Greater Koblenz is one of the most important locations for education. The city is home to 46 schools alone. In addition to 25 primary schools and 4 secondary modern schools, there are 3 other various secondary schools, 6 grammar schools and 3 special schools. Furthermore, there is an integrated comprehensive school, a dual-system secondary school as well as 3 vocational schools. All these qualitative and quantitative systems are supplemented by an excellent well-spring of other educational facilities; both private and church sponsored.
They all work together providing a permanent supply of young qualified people within the Koblenz region with the skills they will need for the world of tomorrow, and offering them the best prospects for playing a successful role in the development of the region and beyond.
