Five hospitals, three of which are academic teaching hospitals, Koblenz has one of the highest density of medical specialists and dentists in the state, as well as almost 7,000 workplaces all closely related to health needs and services; all of which ensure that Koblenz and its citizens remain a city of ‘health’. The range of services offered roughly corresponds to that of a university town hosting a school of medicine. This makes Koblenz, in the realm of medical services, an area of authority of national importance.

 

Koblenz also does justice to its reputation in the area of health care. Excellent outpatient medical treatment provided by medical specialists is complemented by five modern and efficient hospitals.

 

The municipal clinic, Kemperhof, is resident as an academic teaching hospital with a large staff of interns practising their major medical disciplines and focuses on supraregional health care.

 

A high density of hospitals

 

With the merger of the Brüderkrankenhaus St. Josef and Marienhof with the Catholic Clinic an additional hospital at this level of health care was introduced into the hospital plan of Rhineland-Palatinate.

 

Added to this is the newly founded, the Health Centre Stiftsklinikum Mittelrhein Evang. Stift St. Martin (also focusing on special health care), as well as the Central Military Hospital which is also of national importance, focusing on partial inpatient and inpatient treatment of the populace in the northern part of Rhineland-Palatinate.
